Thanks to Yogi and Monk’s Mama for tagging my blog for the Liebster love. Here are my answers to her questions.
At first I wanted to be an actress slash I just wanted to be famous. (Hey, I was 8.) Then I wanted to be the first female President. Then I wanted to be a writer. Then I wanted to be a teacher. Then I wanted to be a psychologist or psychiatrist. Then I wanted to be an OB/GYN. That takes me up to about first year of college. I didn’t become most of those things, but I do write and teach as parts of my job.
What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
Malted vanilla. Or Chocolate Raspberry. Godiva used to make this amazing chocolate raspberry fudge ice cream, but I haven’t seen it in like a decade.
Share your three favorite (non lesbian baby-making) blogs.
I feel weird linking to them because I am SUCH A LURKER on them. But there is a funny “Parenting after infertility” blog called Glum.Bunny which I enjoy. I also read a blog called Reassign.ed Time by an academic who is about 5-7 years ahead of me, career-wise. I can’t really think of a good third one that I read consistently that is non lesbian, non baby-making. I follow Li.fe and Lo.ve in the Pe.tri Dish because they went through more hell than I can imagine to have their wonderful daughter. (7 IVFS and 6 losses, I think.)
What public figures (people we all might know) make your top five? (As in, people you think are hot)
I assume you mean the people on The List. (You know The List, right? The one where if such and such a person shows up at your front door, you are absolutely allowed to have sex with them, no questions asked, as prearranged with your spouse.)
I’ll give you 5 guys and 5 women, since I go both ways. For men: Bono, Ralph Fiennes, Christopher Plummer (from the Sound of Music era), Robert Downey Jr, Sting
For women: Juliette Binoche, Helen Mirren, Jennifer Beals, Tina Fey (I might just want to BE her, not DO her.), Mary-Louise Parker.
What is your most favorite meal? Looking for more than breakfast, lunch or dinner here. What’s on the plate?
A nice glass of Prosecco and a 5-course tasting menu from an amazing restaurant, including lobster, crab, goat cheese, and other amazing deliciousness. Chocolate lava cake or creme brule for dessert.
What book could you read over and over?
I tend not to re-read books that often. But if I need something comforting and easy, I’ll re-read Harry Potter. I like to read memoirs, when I’m not reading for work. There are a bunch of plays that I can re-read and re-see countless times.
Cats or dogs?
What are five words that best describe you?
Intense, passionate, opinionated, driven, affectionate, and consistent (I cheated by adding one more.)
If you could trade places with someone (anyone!) for a day who would it be?
Not sure. I’m sort of fascinated by the inner workings of power, so maybe like BHO or Michelle Ob.ama. Comes from my long-standing West Wing obsession. I’d never want to be them, but I think their life for a day would be pretty fascinating.
An envelope stuffed with cash appears in your mailbox, what do you do?
I’m assuming there are thousands and thousands of dollars in there. First, I take a really nice vacation to Hawaii. Then I save it for the boys’ education.
If someone threw you a surprise party would you feel loved or misunderstood?
No one ever has. (Yet.) But I think I’d feel loved. And probably in total shock, since I’m pretty hard to surprise.
